Online Language Mentor
An MTC Online Language Mentor is responsible for training missionaries on language learning strategies and helping them become self-directed language learners. Language mentors facilitate one-on-one language coaching sessions to help missionaries to take charge of their own language learning and improve their language skills. They will be expected to creatively adapt to the needs of the individual missionaries.
Most openings for Mentors come in April/May and July/August. However, we accept applications at all times.
Positions could vary in length anywhere from a few months to a couple years.

ABOUT THE JOB
On average, 20,000 missionaries come through the Provo Missionary Training Center each year. But the MTC is more than a housing facility. This position is central to the missionaries' role to Invite others to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end. Each generation of missionaries has the potential to become the greatest generation the world has known. We are committed to helping every missionary who comes through our physical or virtual doors achieve that goal. We need the greatest generation of employees to help these missionaries.
When you become a part of the MTC, you will work with talented people who are committed to living and sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. While each position will have its own roles and responsibilities, all positions will be empowered to bless the lives of missionaries. We are looking for covenant keepers who are interested in growing and developing themselves and others.
ONLINE LANGUAGE MENTOR
As an MTC online language mentor, you will help missionaries strengthen their discipleship in Jesus Christ and develop language-learning skills utilizing Preach My Gospel, TALL Embark and Adjusting to Missionary Life.

THINGS YOU'LL DO
As a Language Mentor, you will be responsible for planning and leading instruction based on the current curriculum. You will use lesson outlines for each activity within each session to provide the optimal learning experience. Specifically, you will:
Contact missionaries assigned to you and invite them to participate in mentoring sessions.
Prepare 30 minutes for your shift each day to ensure an exceptional experience for the missionaries.
Meet with you assigned missionaries in online mentoring sessions at the MTC.
Assess missionary progress throughout the mentoring experience.
Report regularly to you supervisor on missionaries’ needs and progress.
Attend a weekly training meeting as conducted by your supervisor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Returned missionary.
Ability to communicate well (verbal and written) in the language(s) for which you are applying.
Outstanding coaching, facilitation, and training skills.
Knowledge and understanding of Preach My Gospel, TALL Embark, and Adjusting to Missionary Life.
Excellent prioritizing, professionalism, interpersonal and leadership skills.
Self-motivated and able to work well with people.
Strong sense of accountability to ensure mentoring sessions and critical communications happen successfully.
Willingness to receive and implement feedback.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Experience with online interactions including chat, video conference, etc.
To successfully perform the essential functions of the job, there may be physical requirements which need to be met such as sitting or standing for long periods of time and using monitors/equipment.
