Online Language Mentor
An MTC Online Language Mentor is responsible for training missionaries on language learning strategies and helping them become self-directed language learners. Language mentors facilitate one-on-one language coaching sessions to help missionaries to take charge of their own language learning and improve their language skills. They will be expected to creatively adapt to the needs of the individual missionaries.
Although the mentoring in this position occurs online, the selected employee would be expected to attend in-person trainings or other work related events located on the Provo MTC Campus.
Responsibilities:
Teach language learning strategies
Maintain a positive and encouraging attitude with missionaries at all times
Effectively ask and answer questions to promote learning
Keep accurate records and reports
Maintain a dependable schedule and be on time for all missionary appointments
Attend required online and in-person training meetings and supervisor 1:1’s
Assist the supervisor with continual improvement efforts as needed improving training materials as requested
Set a good example of an MTC employee, in any venue.
Communicate with missionaries via chat, email, phone as necessary
Qualifications:
Required:
Able to attend the Provo MTC Campus on a regular basis
Have a current Temple Recommend
Served a mission and spoke a foreign language while in the field (speakers of all languages are invited to apply)
Knowledge and solid understanding of Preach My Gospel
Self-motivated and enthusiastic, punctual
Excellent interpersonal skills
Excellent organizational skills
Able to work well independently
Able to explain complex ideas simply
Willingness to learn and implement new concepts and principles
Must possess and maintain a current temple recommend
Preferred:
Proficiency with technology tools to include:
Zoom
Acuity
Google Drive and Google
Additional Information:
It is preferred that the applicant works 15-20 hours per week during the semester but they may be able to work fewer hours with permission, if their schedule requires more flexibility. These hours include mentoring sessions, weekly individual and team development and training meetings.
